Negotiations to Keep OU Medical Center In-Network Continue

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma (BCBSOK) is negotiating new contracts with the OU Medicine, Inc. (OUMI) hospitals, known as OU Medical Center. If an agreement is not reached, our current contracts will expire on March 1, 2019, and OU Medical Center will no longer be in BCBSOK’s Blue TraditionalSM, Blue Choice PPOSM, Blue Preferred PPOSM, BlueLincs HMOSM, Blue Advantage PPOSM or Plan65 Select networks.

We’re continuing to work diligently with the OU Medical Center to keep them in our networks and are encouraged by the progress being made. We are hopeful that a mutually beneficial agreement will be reached.

As a customer-owned health insurance industry leader in Oklahoma, we work with doctors and hospitals to find high quality, cost effective health care for our members. It is a responsibility we take very seriously.

Our members are our priority. If the OU Medical Center choose to leave our networks, we will do all we can to help our members in these areas transition their care to quality, convenient in-network hospitals. Members in the Oklahoma City and Edmond areas will still have in-network access to several area hospitals.

  • Members can visit Provider Finder® to get up-to-date listings of in-network providers and find options for in-network care.

  • They can register or log in to Blue Access for MembersSM for personalized search results based on their health plan and network.
  • Members can also call the customer service number on their ID card for assistance.

  • Members being treated for a pregnancy, disability, acute condition or life-threatening illness may have continuity of care benefits. This means they may still be able to see their current doctor at OU Medical Center even if these facilities go out of network. Benefits for continuity of care are applied based on benefit plans. Members can call the number on their ID card for more information.
