Stillwater Medical Center Leaving BCBSOK Networks

During the past several months, we have worked to negotiate new contracts with Stillwater Medical Center, Stillwater Medical – Perry and Stillwater Medical – Blackwell (Stillwater). Unfortunately, Stillwater informed us they intend to leave our networks. This will happen on May 1, 2023.

We are disappointed that Stillwater ended discussions. We were hopeful that we could come to an agreement that would allow our members to continue to access Stillwater under their in-network benefits.

The issue: Stillwater demanded increased reimbursement that was several times higher than the rate of inflation compounded over three years. In this economic climate, when all Oklahomans are facing inflationary pressures and the threat of a recession, Stillwater’s demands were clearly not in the best interest of our members and customers.

We value the care Stillwater provides our members and would like to have them be part of our networks. If Stillwater will reconsider and prioritize our members and customers − their patients − we are open to discussions.

As of May 1, 2023, Stillwater hospitals in Stillwater, Perry and Blackwell will no longer be in these networks:

  • Blue TraditionalSM
  • Blue Choice PPOSM
  • Blue Preferred PPOSM

Impacted facilities: The following facilities are part of this negotiation:

City
Stillwater Medical Center
1323 W. 6th Ave.

Stillwater Medical - Perry

Perry
Stillwater Medical - Blackwell

Finding in-network care: We’re here to help members who want to stay in-network move their care. To find options for in-network facilities, members can:

  • Visit our online Provider Finder®
  • Register for or log in to Blue Access for MembersSM
  • Call the Customer Service number on their member ID card

Care for ongoing conditions: Members who are pregnant or being treated for a disability, acute condition or life-threatening illness may qualify as continuity-of-care patients. This means they may still be able to receive care at Stillwater at in-network rates even after Stillwater leaves our networks. Members can call the number on their member ID card to find out if they are eligible.

Medicare Advantage: Stillwater Medical Center will leave our Blue Cross Medicare Advantage (HMO)SM and Blue Cross Medicare Advantage (PPO)SM networks on Jan. 1, 2023. More about this termination is in the Nov. 18 edition of BlueVisionSM.
